A new early ripe potato variety Yuna was bred by scientists of the Research Center of the Research Institute of Cytology and Genetics of the SORAN (Novosibirsk). Included in the register of the State Variety Commission of the Russian Federation in 2013 with a permit for cultivation in the West Siberian region.
Variety advantages: early ripening, high stable yield even in the Siberian climate, immunity to a complex of pathogens.
Varie Features
Plant. Stalks of "Yuna" intermediate type, semi-erect, of medium height, covered with small green leaves.
Tubeslarge and medium-large – 110-200 gr., oval-round shape with small eyes. Peel – beige, pulp – light yellow. The taste is good. The starch content is 14-15%. Marketability 80-99%. Keeping – 94%. Appointment – canteen.
The yield of "Yuna", in comparison with varieties of a similar type, is above average – 196-360 centners per hectare. The maximum yield was fixed at 404 c/ha. The number of commercial tubers in the bush is 7-11 pcs. Root ripening period: 65-75 days.
Immunity. According to the originator, the variety resistant to cancer pathogen, golden cyst nematode, wrinkled and striped mosaic, leaf curl.
Planting and care
Potato «Yuna» bred taking into account further cultivation in a sharply continental climate, adapted to Siberian weather conditions.
Terms. Seed potatoes "Yuna" planted in open ground in May, when the soil warms up to at least + 10 ° C degrees 10-15 cm deep.
Soil. The variety is not demanding on the type of soil, but it will show itself best on fertile loose soil, after winter crops, perennial grasses, flax, lupine. Before landing "Yuna" the site is fertilized with organic matter (rotted manure, superphosphate) and harrowed.
Landing. Potato seeds are dipped into planting holes 8-10 cm deep with sprouts up. A distance of 35 cm is maintained between the holes, row spacings of 60 cm are left.
Care. Potato hilling is carried out 2 times per season: when the tops reach 12 cm and 25 cm in height. The earth is poured on 2/3 of the bush. After watering and rains, the soil surface is loosened. Weeds are regularly destroyed. During the period of budding and flowering, you can feed the plants with a mineral potato complex. In case of prolonged drought, additional watering is carried out once every 7-10 days.
Planting material. For planting, choose one-sized, even, healthy seeds, classes: super-superelite, superelite, elite, (1-2-3 years). Deformed, cracked and spoiled tubers – are rejected. Ideal seed potato weight – 35-65 gr.
