An annual plant with a profusely flowering bush. Bright orange, slightly bent down petals of inflorescences form pointed "tubes", the diameter of inflorescences-baskets is 6-8 cm. All parts of the plant contain substances with medicinal properties. Calendula – the plant is extremely unpretentious in culture. It is cold-resistant, photophilous, develops well on different types of soils. Flowering begins 45 days after sowing. In dry hot weather, the inflorescences become smaller, and the terryness decreases, so the calendula must be watered and fed once every 2 weeks.
Seeds are sown immediately in open ground from May to the end of June, as well as before winter. Shoots appear in 10-14 days.
It is widely used in landscaping, in front gardens, mixborders, in group plantings against a lawn, as well as a medicinal and vegetable plant. It goes well with ageratum, salvia, delphinium, rudbeckia, zinnias. Inflorescences are well cut.
