An annual plant that forms a dense, airy bush that blooms profusely all summer. The flowers are terry, graceful, crimson. Dragee seeds, 8-10 grains in one dragee. Gypsophila is very undemanding to the conditions of cultivation, it is easy and fast to grow. Grows well in sunny, dry places and poor, light-textured calcareous soil, but tolerates loamy, heavier and wetter soils and little shade. Seeds can be sown from early spring to June. The optimum temperature for seedlings is 20°C. Shoots appear in 5-7 days. Gypsophila is excellent for hanging baskets and mixed containers.
Can be grown in mixborders, rock gardens. Very beautiful gypsophila next to roses. An excellent replacement for seaside alissum and lobelia when decorating flower beds.
