Tomato "Siberian early" bred in the 50s of the twentieth century by breeders of the Federal State Budget Scientific Institution of the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing (Moscow, Odintsovo). In 1959, the variety was included in the State Register of the Russian Federation with a permit for cultivation in open ground and under film shelters & nbsp; in all Russian regions.
Variety advantages: early ripening, frost resistance, unpretentious care, resistance to late blight, tobacco mosaic virus, suitable for growing in any climate on the basis of personal subsidiary plots and farms.
Characteristics of the variety
Plant determinate, compact with a developed root system. The stems are powerful, able to withstand the harvest without a garter. The foliage of the bushes is medium, the foliage is small, dark green. The inflorescence is simple, 3-4 per stem. On each inflorescence, from 3 to 5 fruits are formed. Articulated stem.
Fruitsflat-round shape, slightly ribbed. The size of the tomatoes is medium-large – 60-115 gr. The color of ripe tomatoes is red. The pulp is juicy, contains up to four seed nests. The taste of the fruit is pleasant and refreshing. The skin is dense, thanks to which the tomatoes tolerate transportation well.
Variety assignment. Tomato "Siberian early" recommended for fresh consumption, salads.
The yield of marketable fruits in the open field is 289-543 centners per hectare, in the greenhouse – 6.3-9.5 kg/m². Siberian tomatoes ripen early and quite amicably, 98-108 days after germination. During the first 15 days of fruiting, 20-43% of the total crop ripens.
Immunity. Highly resistant to Phytophthora, Tobacco Mosaic Virus and Brown Spot.
Growing conditions. Siberian early ripening tomato variety is still considered one of the best achievements of Soviet breeding. It gives a high yield regardless of climatic conditions. It bears fruit well both in open and protected ground.
Terms of planting: In the southern regions in the open ground seedlings of the "Siberian" tomatoes are planted in late spring. In the northern regions and in temperate latitudes – in early summer, after the threat of a return frost has passed. Up to this point, seedlings can be planted under a film for growing and hardening.
Seedling selection
Before you buy seedlings of the Siberian tomato, carefully inspect it.
A quality healthy seedling:
- Shrubs – 30-35 cm high, branched. The stem is strong, but not thick (the diameter of a regular pencil).
- Leaves – few (6-7 pieces), whole, elastic, raised up. No wrinkling, yellowing, brown or black spots.
- Roots – shaped, moist, undamaged.
- The color of the seedlings is rich green. Pale, weak stems and leaves indicate a lack of light when growing seedlings.
- Age for landing at a permanent place – 60 days.
Beware of fakes and diseased planting material! Buy tomato seedlings "Siberian Early" in nurseries and specialized stores.
