The newest tomato variety Freken Bock was bred by Siberian breeders Olga Postnikova and Alexei Zelenin in 2017, and in 2019 it was included in the State Sort Register of the Russian Federation with a permit for cultivation under film shelters in personal subsidiary farms throughout Russia.
Variety advantages: presentation and excellent taste of fruits, good keeping quality and transportability, resistance to temperature changes, immunity to most diseases and pests.
Characteristics of the variety
Plant compact with a powerful stem, slightly leafy. It reaches a height of 160 cm, requires a garter. The leaves are of medium length and bright green. Inflorescence – intermediate type. Peduncle – without articulation.
Fruits obovate (heart-shaped) shape, large. Average fruit weight 250-400 gr., maximum – 500. Peel – smooth, elastic, medium density. Pulp – "meaty", pink, very tasty. The color of the fruits at the stage of maturity – crimson with a yellow spot around the stem.
Tomatoes «Freken Bock» can be consumed fresh, added to salads, hot dishes, frozen, used to make sauces, juice, tomato paste. Tomatoes are not suitable for pickling because of the size of the fruit.
The variety tolerates short-term transportation well, for this purpose it is best to collect slightly unripe fruits.
The yieldof marketable fruits is 8.5-12 kg/m², depending on growing and care conditions. The first tomatoes begin to ripen 90-100 days after germination. The main harvest takes place in July.
Immunity. "Miss Bok" resistant to most fungal diseases. Due to the early ripening, the plant is not susceptible to late blight, and is rarely attacked by pests.
Growing conditions: Lack of moisture, heat and sudden temperature transitions do not affect the yield of the variety. Indoors to grow «Freken Bok» possible in any climate zone.
- Before planting seedlings, the soil is moistened and enriched with a nutrient composition, containing nitrogen, fluorine, potassium, magnesium.
- Density of planting bushes – 3 seedlings per 1 m². Installation of supports and garter is required.
- The greenhouse maintains a constant temperature regime – 20-22°C. With a lack of natural sunlight, artificial light sources are installed.
- Further care: regular watering (2-3 times a week), loosening the soil and weeding after watering, 1-2 top dressing per season.
