Variety of sweet pepper «Catherine» – the result of the joint work of breeders of the Rostov selection and seed-growing center and the Moscow agricultural company "Poisk". Introduced into the State Sort Register of the Russian Federation in 2019 with a permit for cultivation in open and protected ground in private farms in most regions of the Russian Federation.
Variety advantages: heat and drought resistance, undemanding care, friendly ripening, versatility of use.
Characteristics of the variety
Shrub close, powerful, medium height (60-65 cm). The leaf plate is green, slightly wrinkled. The leaves protect the fruits that form directly below them from sunburn.
Fruits drooping, cone-shaped. Weight 120-220 gr., Thick walls – 6-7 mm. The skin is glossy bright red. Number of seed nests – 2-3 pcs. The taste of Catherine peppers fresh, juicy.
Purpose: Catherine pepper is suitable for fresh consumption, salads, lecho, hot dishes, stuffing, freezing.
Productivityin greenhouses 6 kg per square meter, in open ground - 4.5 kg (in the south). The output of marketable products is 90%. Ripening of Catherine peppers medium, friendly. The period from germination to fruiting is 125 days.
Immunity to tobacco mosaic virus. Resistance to major pepper diseases. Preventive treatment – recommended.
Growing conditions. Early ripe variety of peppers «Catherine» suitable for cultivation, both in open ground and under film shelters in any climatic zone. However, under greenhouse conditions, crop yields increase markedly.
Regions: Central, Central Black Earth, Northern and Northwestern, Volga-Vyatka, Middle and Lower Volga, Urals, Western and Eastern Siberia, Far East, Caucasus.
Term of planting in open ground: southern regions – May; northern – beginning of June.
