Eggplant Khalifa

Eggplant Khalifa was bred by the breeders of the agricultural company «Poisk» V. Ognev and N. Geraskina. In 2015, the variety was included in the State Register  RF with a permit for cultivation in open ground and under film in most regions of Russia.

Variety advantages: unpretentiousness to growing conditions, resistance to temperature extremes, lack of thorns, taste without bitterness.

Characteristics of the variety

Plant high, up to 70 cm, semi-spreading. Stems are green, slightly pubescent, without thorns. Leaves in the amount of 7-10 pieces, smooth with a slightly wavy edge. There are no spikes on the calyx.

Fruits elongated club-shaped, slightly curved. Medium-sized eggplants: weight 200-250 gr., length 18-20 cm, diameter 5-6 cm. The peel of the ripe fruit is glossy, dark purple. The pulp is white. The taste is good, without bitterness.

Purpose eggplant "Khalif" universal. They are suitable for cooking eggplant caviar, cold and hot appetizers, preparations for the winter. The shelf life of harvested fruits is limited – no more than a month in the refrigerator.

Productivity of marketable fruits in a greenhouse (hotbed) 3.6 kg per square meter. Variety "Khalif" refers to mid-season varieties. The harvest of ripe eggplants is harvested 115-120 days after germination, a month after flowering. It is important not to allow the fruits to overripe, otherwise they will lose their taste.

Immuneto spider mites and Colorado potato beetles. Relative resistance to fusarium and verticillium.

Growing conditions. Eggplant variety "Khalif" It tolerates temperature extremes well, so it can be grown both in open ground and in greenhouses. However, under the film, the yield of the variety is higher.

Recommended regions: Central, Central Black Earth, Northern and Northwestern, Volga-Vyatka, Middle and Lower Volga, Urals, Western and Eastern Siberia, Far East, Caucasus.

Planting dates: eggplant seedlings "Khalif" planted in a permanent place in the spring, 2-2.5 months after germination.
