Sea buckthorn Elizabeth

Sea buckthorn Elizabeth – refers to large-fruited varieties of late ripening. Bred by a domestic breeder, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences Elizaveta Panteleeva. In 2006, the variety was included in the State Register of the Russian Federation, recommended for cultivation in the Ural, West and East Siberian regions.

Advantages: large berries, high yields, pleasant taste, decorative bushes.

Characteristics of the variety

Shrub of sea buckthorn Elizaveta of restrained vigor, low with a compact oval or spherical crown. The leaves are elongated, dark green at the top, olive with a silvery sheen – from below. There are very few spines on the shoots.

Fruitscylindrical, 1-1.2 cm long. Average berry weight: 0.8-1 gr. Peel – orange, thick. Pulp — juicy. The taste is dessert, refreshing. Sugar content – 10%.

Destination. Sea buckthorn can be consumed fresh, used for making desserts, as a traditional medicine.

Productivity and terms of fruiting. Productivity of – high, from one adult bush they collect from 12 kg of berries, from one hectare to 57 centners. Regular fruiting begins from the fourth year of planting, after 10-12 years the bushes rejuvenate.

The flowering period of sea buckthorn is the end of April – beginning of May. Fruit ripening terms – late, third decade of August.

Immunity. With proper care, the variety is practically not affected by diseases and pests.

Growing conditions. Sea buckthorn Elizabeth is easy to care for and resistant to low temperatures. At the same time, the plant is sensitive to moisture, prefers sandy soils with a neutral or alkaline pH. The variety is suitable for growing in regions with cold winters, without special shelter.
