Expanded clay
Expanded clay drainage is an artificial material for soil. It is added to the soil to improve air and moisture exchange. Drainage is suitable for use in the garden or at home (for indoor plants). Adding drainage to the soil prevents water stagnation and soil acidification.
Purpose
- Optimizes moisture and air circulation.
- Improves the outflow of excess water from pots (boxes, flowerpots) during overflow and provides better air access to the roots of flower and indoor plants.
- Prevents soil acidification (due to natural alkalinity).
- Helps plants withstand periods of forced drought due to high water holding capacity.
Uses
- Additive to flower soil
When preparing the flower soil, add expanded clay to the soil in a ratio of 1:10 and mix. - Drainage for potted crops
1-2 cm of expanded clay is poured into the bottom of the pot. If the pot does not have a drain hole, then you need to put 3-5 cm (1/4 of the height of the container) expanded clay on the bottom, then pour a little soil and complete the planting. - To prevent mold and moss
The surface of the soil in a pot with a plant is evenly covered with expanded clay with a layer of 1cm.
