Potato Symphony – a mid-late table variety, bred by employees of the Dutch company "HZPC Holland B. V.", was included in the State Register of the Russian Federation in 1996. Culture was approved for cultivation in Central Russia.
Thanks to high productivity even in cold climates, undemanding to the quality and composition of soils, adaptability to various weather conditions, "Symphony" quickly gained popularity among the farmers of Siberia, the Far East, the North-Western part of the country.
Varie Features
Plant. The bush consists of 4-6 powerful, erect stems, 50-70 cm high. The leaves are medium in size, dark green, matte. Flowering is plentiful, berries are not formed.
Tubesof medium and large size, marketable copies reach a weight of 70−140 gr. Form of root crops – oval. The surface is smooth, without bumps and dents, with few eyes. Peel – red, smooth, flesh – yellow, thick. Starch content 13-19%. Marketability – 81-92%. Keeping — 95%.
The taste qualities of the "Symphony" – 4.8 out of 5 points. Potatoes boil well, are more suitable for mashed potatoes, to a lesser extent – for frying and salads.
The yieldof the variety is high. On one bush, 8-11 root crops are formed (without small things). On an industrial scale, 210-460 centners of potatoes are harvested on average per hectare. However, as a result of state tests, the maximum yield was recorded – 612 q/ha. The period of formation and maturation of tubers – 80-100 days.
Immunity. "Symphony" immune to cancer and golden nematode, moderately resistant to common scab. Susceptible to late blight of tops (prophylactic treatment is required).
Planting and care
Potato "Symphony" unpretentious in care and productive in almost any climatic zone. He responds with gratitude to watering and fertilizing.
Terms. The variety is planted in May, when the soil warms up to at least +10°С degrees by 10-15 cm in depth, and the air – up to +16 degrees.
Soil. The variety is not picky about the type of soil – bears fruit well on loamy, soddy, sandy soils, – but reacts to its fertility and friability. Therefore, before planting potatoes, the land on the site is dug up with organic fertilizers and harrowed.
Landing. Seed potatoes are planted in planting pits 10 cm deep with sprouts up. A distance of 30 cm is left between the holes, between the rows – 60. Before planting, the holes are filled with nitrogen fertilizer.
Growing up «Symphony» carried out twice during the growing season: when the tops grow by 12 cm and 25 cm in height. The earth is poured on 2/3 of the bush. After watering and rains, the soil surface around the bushes is loosened to break the earthen crust, which prevents air exchange with roots and tubers. The depth of loosening should be no more than & nbsp; 3-4 cm, otherwise the root zone may be damaged.
Feeding. The variety responds well to additional fertilizing with organic matter and superphosphate – 1 time for 12-14 days after planting. Mineral complexes for potatoes – in the flowering and budding phases.
Planting material. Seed potatoes "Symphony" must weigh more than 30 grams, but less than 100. The ideal weight – 40-65 gr. Single-sized, even, healthy seeds should be chosen, avoid – deformed, damaged and spoiled tubers.
Beware of counterfeit planting material! Buy seed potatoes "Symphony" in nurseries and specialized stores.
