Planting and care
Potato variety «Lazar» adapted to cold, heat, resistant to drought. It can be grown in almost any climate zone. To get a good harvest, it is important to observe the planting dates, avoid thickening, hill up, loosen and water the plants in time.
Terms of planting. Sprouted seed potatoes are planted mainly in May, when the soil warms up to + 8 ° C and above, up to 10 cm in depth.
Landing. Light, fertile, loamy or sandy soils are chosen for planting potatoes. Open sunny areas, after cereals, herbs, lupins. The soil is dug up in the area. Then holes are formed with a depth of 8-10 cm, leaving a distance of 30-35 cm between them, between rows – 60-70 cm
Irrigation. Watering potatoes "Lazarus" as needed, depending on soil and weather conditions. Despite the increased drought resistance of the variety, prolonged drying of the soil can lead to the death of potato stolons and, as a result, to crop loss. Water is best served under the bushes along dug grooves.
Feeding. Organic fertilizers – manure and bird droppings diluted in water, as well as wood ash (20 g per plant). During the growing season, ammonium nitrate, carbamide, nitrophoska are added. During flowering – superphosphate and potassium salt.
Hilling. The first time the tops of potatoes are spudded when they reach a height of 15 cm, the second time – with a shoot length of 25 cm. The earth is poured approximately to the middle of the bush.
Loosening. The first loosening of the soil to a depth of 6-7 cm is carried out on the tenth day after germination of sprouts, using a hoe or cultivator. All subsequent loosening is carried out after watering and rains to a depth of 4 cm in order to break the crust formed on the ground, which prevents air exchange with the underground part of the plant. Remove weeds.
Diseases and pests. Potato Lazarus has increased immunity to tuber phytophthora and cancer, moderate – to late blight. At the same time, the plant is susceptible to the golden nematode. It is important to periodically inspect the plants, at the first sign of infection, immediately treat the plantings with special compounds.
Beware of fakes and contaminated planting material! Buy seed potatoes "Lazar" in nurseries and specialized stores.
