Medium-early variety of potatoes for table purposes «Adretta» bred by breeders of Norika Nordring-Kartoffelzucht und Vermehrungs GmbH (Germany). In 1980, the variety was included in the State Register of the Russian Federation and recommended for cultivation in the Middle Volga, West Siberian, Far Eastern regions. For more than 40 years, "Adretta" well known in Russia and the CIS, is very popular with domestic farmers and gardeners.

Varie Features

Plant of intermediate type, erect, compact. The stems are powerful, tall, light green with medium-sized leaves. Bushes bloom profusely. Inflorescences consist of numerous white corollas.

Tubers of medium size, weighing 100-150 gr. Form – rounded oval, surface leveled with few shallow eyes. Peel – yellow, rough. Pulp – light yellow, dense. Culinary Type С – medium friability during cooking. Suitable for boiling as a whole, baking, mashed potatoes and first courses. The tasting rating of boiled potatoes is 4.5 points out of 5.  When freezing, potatoes do not change color and taste.

Starch content 13-17.8%. Marketability – 85-90% of the total harvest. Keeping – 95-98%. Root crops are transportable, resistant to mechanical damage, suitable for long-term storage.

Yield «Adretta» stable – medium to high, depending on agricultural practices and growing conditions. The number of marketable tubers in the nest is 10-20 pcs. (1.5-2 kg). Maximum productivity in industrial production – 400-450 c/ha.

The variety develops very quickly at the initial stage of vegetation, the tops are intensively gaining strength, tubers are quickly and amicably formed.  From the first shoots  only 60-80 days pass until the full maturity of root crops, therefore, in regions with long summers and warm autumns, gardeners manage to get 2 crops of "Adretta"; per season.

Immunity. The culture is resistant to cancer (D1), virus Y, glandular spot, blackleg, late blight. Moderately susceptible to leafroll virus and rhizoctoniosis. Susceptible to golden nematode (Ro1), common scab.

Planting and care

Deadlines. Seed potatoes "Adretta" most often planted in early May, but the dates may be shifted depending on weather conditions. It is important that the soil has time to warm up to 10-12 ° C at least 10 cm deep. For planting, it is better to choose warm, dry weather.

Location. For "Adretta" choose an open straight area with sufficient drainage. Soil – loamy or sandy, with a neutral pH. Suitable fields after winter, perennial grasses, flax, lupine. Before planting, the land is enriched with organic matter and harrowed from South to North.

Planting. The holes are dug in rows at a distance of 20-25 cm from each other, between the rows an indent of 60-70 cm is made. The depth of the planting hole is 8-10 cm. Root crops are placed on the bottom with sprouted eyes up and covered with earth.

Hilling plants is carried out twice. The first time, when shoots grow by 15-20 cm. The second – after another 2-3 weeks. Simultaneously with hilling, weeds are weeded.

Irrigation. Regular torrential rains are often enough to grow plants and form a potato crop. Additional watering is carried out in case of prolonged drought or poor rainfall – 3 times during the growing season. It is better to prefer irrigation along furrows or drip irrigation to sprinkling, because. moisture on the tops can lead to late blight.

Feeding. At the initial stage of the growing season, during the budding period, "Adretta" will gratefully respond to feeding with mineral mixtures for potatoes containing potassium, phosphorus and magnesium.

Planting material. For landing "Adretta" choose one-sized, even, healthy seeds of classes: super-superelite, superelite, elite, (1-2-3 years). Deformed, cracked, spoiled, moldy or rotten seed tubers – are rejected. Root crops for planting should be approximately the same size – 40-70 grams.
