Sevruga tomato

Tomato variety «Sevruga» originally from Siberia. It does not appear in the State Sort Register of the Russian Federation, but experienced gardeners have already compared its qualities with a well-known fellow countryman, who was included in the register in 2007 under the name "Pudovik". By most characteristics, Sevruga is considered the twin of Pudovik.

Variety advantages: large-fruited, adaptation to the Siberian climate, high immunity to viruses and fungal diseases.

Characteristics of the variety

Plant half-dent, 1.2-1.5 meters high, requires a garter. The bush is formed in 2-3 stems. Inflorescence – simple brush. Peduncle – with articulation.

Fruits«Sevruga» there are heart-shaped and flat-round shapes, large 270-500 gr. Color – crimson red. Pulp – soft, juicy, with 4 seed chambers. Peel – thin, prone to cracking with excess moisture or drought. Transportability – weak, during transportation, the tomatoes crumple, they need to be laid in one layer. The main advantage of – wonderful sweet taste and aroma of fruits.

Productivity high – 15 kg per square meter; 2.5-3.0 kg of fruit per bush. Ripening terms are average, the end of July – September, 3-4 waves of fruiting. Ripe fruits begin to be harvested 110-120 days after germination and are harvested until the onset of cold weather.

Immunity. High resistance to common "tomato" diseases, including late blight.

Growing conditions

Sevruga tomato is resistant to adverse weather conditions, cold summer. It reacts to heat with a decrease in yield, with excessive moisture, the fruits may crack.

• Planting scheme: 2-3 plants per 1m²; 40 cm indent between holes, 50-60 cm – between rows.
• 3-4 top dressings are allowed during the season with infusions of cut grass or rotted manure, phosphorus-potassium fertilizer. It is important not to overfeed the plants, especially with mineral compounds.
• A large-fruited variety needs abundant regular watering. Mulching will help keep moisture in the soil for a long time.

Seedling selection

Before you buy seedlings of "Sevruga" tomatoes, carefully inspect them.

A quality healthy seedling:

• Shrubs – no more than 30 cm high, branched. The stem is strong, but not thick (the diameter of a regular pencil).
• Leaves – few (6-8 pcs.), whole, elastic, raised up. No wrinkling, yellowing, brown or black spots.
• Roots – shaped, moist, undamaged.
• The color of the seedlings is rich green. Pale, weak stems and leaves indicate a lack of light when growing seedlings.
• Age for landing at a permanent place – 60-65 days.
