Tomato Dorothy F1

Originators of the tomato "Dorothy F1" GREENOMICA LTD (London/Moscow). In 2012, the variety was included in the State Sort Register of the Russian Federation with a permit for cultivation in private farms under film cover.

Variety advantages: high early yield, resistance to temperature extremes, to a group of viruses and fungal diseases.

Characteristics of the variety

Plant of vegetative type, indeterminate, strong, requires a garter. Root System –  powerful, quickly regenerates, thanks to which the seedlings quickly take root. The leaves are large, dark green, grow in a semi-horizontal position. Inflorescences – simple or intermediate type. The first appears above 9-11 sheets, then –  every 3 sheets.

Fruit "Dorothy" rounded shape with a nose (shape index 0.9-1.0). Tomatoes are large, weighing 140-170 gr. Peel – elastic, smooth, bright red. Pulp – thick, tasty. Tomatoes have good transportability, do not crack, are suitable for sale in fresh markets, salad preparation, whole canning.

Productivity commodity fruits – 12.7 kg per square meter. The ripening of the variety is early: 90-95 days from the moment of emergence  sprouts.

Immunity. The plant is resistant to mosaic virus, cladosporiosis, verticillium, fusarium wilt.

Growing conditions: closed ground, slightly saline and neutral soils. For a more saturated color of fruits, higher doses of potash fertilizers and moderate use of ammonia forms of nitrogen are recommended.

Seedling selection

Before you buy seedlings of "Dorothy F1" tomatoes, inspect them carefully.

A quality healthy seedling:

• Shrubs – no more than 30 cm high, branched. The stem is strong, but not thick (the diameter of a simple pencil).
• Leaves – few (7-12 pcs.), whole, elastic, raised up.
• Roots – shaped, moist, undamaged.
• Seedling color – rich green.
• The age of the seedling is 1.5-2 months.

Signs of diseased and poor-quality seedlings:

• Egg laying on the bottom of the leaf. Brown, dark spots and mold on the plant.
• Wrinkled, deformed or yellowed leaf blade.
• The excessive thickness of the stems and lush large foliage indicate abundant fertilization of seedlings with nitrogen fertilizers, which significantly reduces the yield of tomatoes.
• Pale, thin, weak stems and leaves indicate a lack of light when growing seedlings.
