Tomato Burly

Variety of tomatoes «Dorodny» bred by the breeders of the agricultural company «Altai Seeds» (Barnaul) M. Kotelnikova and N. Antipova, patented and included in the State Sort Register of the Russian Federation in 2008 with a permit for cultivation in open ground on the basis of personal subsidiary plots.

Variety advantages:  early ripening, large fruits, adaptation to a cold climate.

Characteristics of the variety

Plant indeterminate, 1.5-2 m high, requires tying and shaping. The leaves are green and large. Inflorescence ordinary. Articulated stem.

Fruits flat-round shape, ribbed. Average weight: 220-300 gr. Maximum – 800 g Pulp – dense, fleshy, the number of seed nests is not more than six. Taste – good. Ripe tomato color – crimson. Purpose of the variety: salad. Suitable for baby and diet food.

Productivity – from 4.2 kg of marketable fruits per square meter. The first ripe fruits appear early, 110-115 days after germination. The main harvest period is July-August.

Immunity. Resistant to common nightshade diseases.

Growing conditions

Variety of tomatoes «Dorodny» adapted to a cold climate, grows and bears fruit in the open field, even in the northern regions. Recommended for cultivation by the State Variety Commission:  in the Northern and Northwestern, Central, Volga-Vyatka, Caucasian, Ural, Far Eastern and other regions of the Russian Federation, as well as in Western and Eastern Siberia.

• Seedlings are planted in soil warmed up to at least + 12 ° C, when the night temperature is set at + 15 ° C and above. With the threat of return frosts, young bushes cover for the night.
• Requirements for the site: a lot of sun, a minimum of shade, no drafts. The soil is light, fertile, well drained.
• Scheme of landing – 50 x 40 cm, 3-4 bushes per 1 m2. Plants are tied to supports, to increase productivity they are formed into 1-3 stems.
• Irrigation is plentiful, with warm water 1-2 times a week.
• Feeding 3-4 times per season with organic infusions (rotten manure, mowed grass) and mineral fertilizers.

Seedling selection

Before you buy seedlings of "Porter" tomatoes, inspect them carefully.

A quality healthy seedling:

• Shrubs – no more than 30 cm high, branched. The stem is strong, but not thick (the diameter of a regular pencil).
• Leaves – few (6-7 pieces), whole, elastic, raised up. No wrinkling, yellowing, brown or black spots.
• Roots – shaped, moist, undamaged.
• The color of the seedlings is rich green. Pale, weak stems and leaves indicate a lack of light when growing seedlings.
• Age for landing at a permanent place – 60-65 days.
