Variety of tomatoes "Alsu" bred by Novosibirsk sectionalists V. Dederko and T. Postnikova, patented as a breeding achievement, and entered into the State Register of the Russian Federation in 2008. The State Variety Commission recommended "Alsu" for cultivation in open ground and under film shelters on the basis of private farms in all Russian regions.
Variety advantages: cold resistance, adaptation to the Siberian climate, early fruit ripening, resistance to diseases and pests.
Characteristics of the variety
Plant determinant, low 80–100 cm. Shrubs need a bandage due to large fruits and relatively thin stems. Foliage green, few. Inflorescence – simple, peduncle – with articulation.
Fruitsflat-round shape, sometimes with signs of heart-shaped, slightly ribbed, large. Average weight of tomatoes – 312 gr., maximum – 800 grams (formed on the lower tiers). The color of the fruit is bright red, a pink tint is possible. Pulp – fleshy, dense, juicy, contains more than 6 nests with few seeds.
Taste «Alsu» – classic tomato, without sourness, 4 points out of 5. The main purpose of the variety: salad. Suitable for preparing cold appetizers, first and second courses, processing into juice, pasta, ketchup, lecho, etc. The fruits are transportable, the keeping quality is average – when mature, they are stored from 5-10 days.
Yield "Alsu" 7-9 kg of marketable fruits per square meter. This average performance indicator for tomatoes of this class is partly offset by the early ripening of fruits – 90 days after emergence.
Immunity. The plant is resistant to most nightshade diseases and pests, does not require pesticide treatment. You can get an environmentally friendly and healthy tomato crop.
Growing conditions.
Variety "Alsu" created specifically for growing in risky farming areas. He endures a sharp change in temperature, drought, lack of natural light. Nevertheless, it is better to prefer a greenhouse to open ground, because. "Alsu" may die during return frosts.
- When planting plants in open ground in the first half of summer, they need to be covered for the night.
- Tomato seedlings are planted according to the scheme 50x40 cm, 5-7 bushes per 1m2. Plants are tied to a trellis or individual pegs.
- To increase productivity, Alsu bushes form in 1-3 stems. Stepchildren are removed immediately when they appear.
- Irrigation: in the greenhouse – no more than 1 time in 7-10 days; in open ground – on average 1-2 times a week, guided by the weather and soil conditions. Warm settled water is poured only under the root, avoiding moisture on the tops and fruits.
- "Alsu" responds well to organic and mineral supplements in the phases of active growth and flowering.
Seedling selection
Before you buy Alsu tomato seedlings, inspect them carefully.
A quality healthy seedling:
- Shrubs – no more than 30 cm high, branched. The stem is strong, but not thick (the diameter of a regular pencil).
- Leaves – few (6-7 pieces), whole, elastic, raised up. No wrinkling, yellowing, brown or black spots.
- Roots – shaped, moist, undamaged.
- The color of the seedlings is rich green. Pale, weak stems and leaves indicate a lack of light when growing seedlings.
- Age for landing at a permanent place – 55-60 days.
Beware of fakes and diseased planting material! Buy tomato seedlings "Alsu" in nurseries and specialized stores.
