Early remontant raspberry variety Delniva was bred at Brezzin Breeding Institute (Poland). His seedlings are not cheap, but they are strong, hardy and give a harvest in the first year.

Delniva bushes are low (1.3-1.6 m.), so they do not require garters and trellises. Shoots are straight, strong with sharp thorns. The rhizome is well developed. The fruits protrude above the leaves, which makes harvesting much easier. The plant is hardy, resistant to diseases and pests, incl. mites and gray mold.

Raspberry Delniva has an earlier ripening period than its progenitor – Polka. The yield of the variety also exceeds Polka, by almost a third. Before frost, raspberries manage to give 90-95% of their potential.

Delniva's berries are sweet and fragrant, bright red in color, shaped like a cone, about the same size and weight (5-6 g). Important fact – the berry does not lose its taste even when the weather conditions worsen, in cold weather or rains.

The raspberry drupes are small, tightly linked to each other, the skin is dense, when harvesting, the berry is easily separated from the stalk, does not fall apart and does not flow. The fruits are long-lived, they tolerate transportation well.

Planting and care

Planting Delniva raspberries are carried out in spring or autumn. To do this, choose flat areas with loamy soil or black soil, well lit by the sun. Raspberries of this variety do not like shade, lowlands and hills, the quality of the crop is deteriorating, and the berry is getting smaller. Also make sure that groundwater is far from the surface. You should not choose areas for planting raspberries where in past years crops suffering from diseases and pests, as well as representatives of the nightshade family, grew.

Delniva seedlings are thin with a well-developed root system. They are planted in a row or separately. With the tape method, trenches 50 × 50 cm are equipped at a distance of 1 m from each other. Moisten the soil before planting raspberries. The roots are dipped in a solution of clay or manure. The root collars are left at ground level (do not bury).

Feeding. Before planting raspberries, a nutrient mixture of manure, humus of the upper layers of soil and mineral fertilizers is added to the grooves or pits. Nitrogen fertilizers are not recommended, because. they prevent seedlings from taking root. After planting, the plants must be watered, and the soil should be mulched with improvised materials: weeds, straw, etc. During the period of growth and fruiting, magnesium and potassium are added to the top dressing of Delniva.

Cutting. As soon as the fruiting period ends and the entire crop is harvested, the shoots are pruned. If the stems are removed too early, the root system will not have time to prepare for the next season. If the shoots are left uncut for the winter, then next year you will get from Delniva the behavior of a non-repairable variety, i.e. harvest only one crop in the middle of summer on unpruned shoots. There will be no more autumn fruiting.
