Variety of garden strawberries «Albion» (Albion) bred by Californian breeders in 2006. It was originally intended for commercial cultivation.
The repairing nature of the Albion strawberry causes it to bear fruit repeatedly during the growing season. The kidneys of the fetus are formed regardless of sunrise and sunset.
The frost resistance of the variety is low; in snowless winters, shelter is necessary. Suitable agrofibre, straw, coniferous spruce branches. Before covering strawberries, weeds are removed, dried leaves are cut off, and moisture-charging watering is done. In the spring, you need to remove the shelter in a timely manner so as not to provoke the development of root rot.
Albion strawberry fruiting occurs the next year after planting. The variety gives a good harvest for 3-4 years, then the beds are changed.
With proper care, the yield of strawberries is high – up to 2 kg per bush. In the northern regions – up to 1 kg.
Fruits of "Albion" quite large - 50-60 g. In the first wave of the harvest, the berries are the same, in the subsequent – fruits shrink. The berries have a canonical shape, bright carmine color, glossy and even skin. In the cut, the flesh is deep pink, tender, without voids. The taste is sweet, but not cloying: with a piquant sourness and a pronounced aroma of garden strawberries.
Plucked berries stay fresh for a long time during storage. Possess high transportable properties, keep a trade dress for a long time. Therefore, strawberries of the "Albion" variety great for growing commercially.
