Varie Features

Medium-sized Ruby Jam fruits – 20-25 gr., maximum – 35 gr. The skin is bright red glossy, the pulp is juicy, sweet, has a pronounced aroma of garden strawberries.

The variety has increased keeping quality and transportability, which makes it available for commercial purposes – sales in the markets of fresh berries, storage in the refrigerator, freezing / thawing. Ruby Jam strawberries make delicious jams, jams, compotes.

The yield of the variety is high – on average 1  kg per bush, which is a pretty good indicator for short-day strawberries. Fruiting is plentiful, strawberries give 1 crop per year, the duration of the collection is 2-3 weeks.

The maturity of Ruby Jam berries is early. When grown in southern latitudes and greenhouses, the release of the peduncle occurs in March-April, and the peak of fruiting in May – the beginning of June. In the  middle lane, the crop ripens in June. From the beginning of the growing season to the harvest of berries - 6 weeks (8 weeks for ordinary varieties).

Planting and care

At the end of the 2020 season, the variety was tested in Moscow, but there are still not many official data on the conditions for its cultivation. Australian originators classify it as a variety suitable for mild winters. For northern latitudes, cultivation in greenhouses and shelter for the winter is recommended. It is also known that the variety is resistant to fungal diseases, anthracnose, and is slightly affected by ticks. In general, care for Ruby Jam does not differ from other early varieties of strawberries.

Attention! Due to the novelty of the variety, Ruby Gem strawberry seedlings are only available for retail sale. Beware of fakes! Buy strawberry seedlings in trusted places – nursery and specialized stores.
