The unique variety of remontant blackberry Prime Ark Freedom was first presented by John Clark, a scientist at the University of Arkansas (USA). In 2013, the variety received a state patent, after which it began to be widely distributed on the market of the latest varieties. In 2016, Prime Arc blackberries began to be cultivated in Russia.

Dignity of the variety: two fruits per season, no thorns, large fruit.

Characteristics of the variety

Shrubs upright, up to 2 meters high. The shoots are powerful, without thorns, green with a purple tint and a bluish bloom. The flowers are fluffy white, self-pollinating. Up to 50 berries are tied on one brush.

Fruits black, cone-shaped, large. The average weight of berries is 9-10 gr., the maximum – 20 gr. Taste of pulp – sweet with slight sourness. Peel – glossy, elastic. Blackberries tolerate gentle transport over short distances well. Suitable for sale, fresh consumption, freezing, preparations for the winter.

The yield of Prime Ark Freedom is high, averaging 7 kg/m². Ripening terms – early. When growing blackberries as a remontant, the bush produces two waves of fruiting per season: in May-June and August-September.

Immunity to common diseases and pests. May be affected by anthracnose, mosaic.

Growing conditions.

In the southern regions, it is best to shade the variety, because. under the scorching sun, the berries can bake. The quantity and quality of the crop in the heat is reduced.

In the northern latitudes, in order to get a full-fledged double crop, shelters are created for remontant blackberries. In the open field, part of the crop can be lost: in the first wave of fruiting due to return frosts, and in the second – due to the early onset of autumn cold.

The frost resistance of the variety is low. The permissible minimum temperature for the variety is – 14 ° C, so the bushes must be covered for the winter.
