Apple tree Ural pink

Standard apple variety Uralskoe pink was bred by L. Kotov, an employee of the Yekaterinburg breeding station.

Variety advantages: resistance to Siberian frosts, immunity to scab and fungal diseases, unpretentious care, taste and transportability of fruits.  Disadvantages of the variety: self-fertility, short shelf life.

Characteristics of the variety

Treehigh, up to 5 m, with a dense pyramidal crown. Flowering and fruiting in compact bunches. The foliage is large, bright green, plate – wide, smooth with even edges.

Fruitsrounded, small, medium weight – up to 120 gr. The skin of ripe apples is dense, pink. Pulp – creamy, juicy, crispy. The taste is sweet with sourness, tasting score – 4.5 out of 5.

Variety Assignment – universal, fresh consumption, processing into jam, compotes, juices, etc. Harvested ripe fruits of the "Ural pink" transportable, but stored for no more than one month.

Productivityof the variety "Ural pink" – up to 40 kg per tree. The apple tree bears fruit annually, from 4 years after planting the seedlings. Ripening terms – mid-season, end of August – beginning of September.

Immuneto scab and other fungal diseases. The apple tree is attacked by the codling moth. Necessary preventive measures: annual collection and burning of apple litter (leaves, branches, rotten fruits), whitewashing of trunks, treatment with biological products to prevent diseases and pests.

Growing conditions. Variety "Ural pink" grows well and bears fruit in "cold" regions. Due to its high frost resistance down to -40-45°C, even after harsh winters, the tree quickly recovers and gives a full harvest. Only young seedlings cover for the winter. The apple tree tolerates a short drought well, which does not negate regular abundant watering.

For planting apple trees «Ural pink» choose a sunny area with fertile light soil (loam, sandy loam) and deep groundwater (at least 5-7 meters). Since Variety "Ural pink" – self-infertile, for cross-pollination, the tree is planted in the neighborhood (4-5 meters) with other apple trees that bloom at the same time.
