Apple tree Souvenir of Altai

Apple variety «Souvenir of Altai» bred by breeders of the Altai Scientific Center for Agrobiotechnologies (Barnaul) in the 70s. XX century by crossing apple trees Gornoaltayskaya, Pekinskaya and Bellefleur. In 1999, the variety was included in the State Sort Register of the Russian Federation with a permit for cultivation in Western Siberia and the Volga-Vyatka region.

Variety advantages: regular yield, winter hardiness, immunity to scab.

Characteristics of the variety

Tree medium height, 4-5 meters in height. The crown is rounded, medium density. Skeletal branches are located almost at right angles to the trunk. The shoots are round, strongly pubescent, growth is 0.5-0.6 m per year. Egg-shaped leaves, plate – shiny, wrinkled with coarse nerves, the lower part is pubescent.

Fruits round-conical shape, ribbed, with a small wide funnel. Average weight of apples – 77-80 gr. Peel – smooth pink with yellow patches. The pulp is fine-grained, juicy, white. Taste – sweet and sour, tasting score 4.4 points.

Productivity«Altai Souvenir» 70 c/ha (according to the State Register). Ripe fruits are harvested in mid-September.

Immuneto scab. Weak resistance to moniliosis. Preventive treatments are recommended.

Growing conditions. Apple tree Souvenir of Altai – self-fertile, for stable yields, it does not need perepollinators trees. The variety is relatively frost-resistant, in a harsh winter with little snow it can freeze slightly. The apple tree is common in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, in Altai.
