The VASKhNiL nursery offers to buy nutrient soil for growing azaleas based on high-moor peat from environmentally friendly deposits in the Smolensk and Sverdlovsk regions.

Peat soil for azalea

Ready-made peat-based nutrient substrate for azalea and other houseplants adapted to slightly acidic soils.

Composition:

  • Mixture of peat of varying degrees of decomposition.
  • Limestone flour – acid neutralizer.
  • Azophoska – complex nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium fertilizer.
  • Agroperlite – fertilizer from volcanic rock.

Nutritional content:

(in plant-friendly form)

  • Nitrogen (NH4 + N03) ≤100 mg/l
  • Phosphorus (P2O5) ≤130 mg/l
  • Potassium (K2O) ≤140 mg/l

Azalea soil requirements

Azalea is demanding on the composition of the soil. Incorrectly selected soil can lead to the death of symbiotic microorganisms, and eventually the plant itself.

Suitable soil for azaleas:

  • It has a weak acidity - pH from 3.5 to 5.5;
  • Has a light, loose texture;
  • Holds moisture well, allows air to pass through;
  • Contains a lot of humus and nutrients.

Application

Planting/transplanting azalea

Drainage (expanded clay, pebbles) is placed at the bottom of the pot, peat soil is poured on top. To improve the access of moisture and oxygen, the roots of the azalea are cut 1 cm from the bottom and sides. The plant is placed in a pot along with an earthy clod. Fall asleep with the second part of the soil to the root collar. The substrate is a little tamped and moistened.

Cutting

Azalea cuttings are planted in the first half of spring. The pots are filled with peat soil, which is thoroughly moistened. The shoots are buried in the substrate by 2 cm. Cover with a film or glass jars on top until new leaves appear.

Preparation of cuttings. With a sharp knife or secateurs, cut off part of the shoot of the azalea – 4-7 cm long, cut – at an angle of 45 degrees. On each put 5-6 leaves, the rest are removed. The cut point can be treated with a root formation stimulator.
