Polana – remontant raspberry variety, which is suitable for cultivation, both in southern and northern latitudes, as it tolerates frosts down to -34 ° C. Feels most comfortable in the middle lane.

"Polana" grows and bears fruit in one place up to 14 years, unlike many other varieties, transplantation is not required every 3-4 years.

The raspberry bush reaches a height of 1.6 m, branches well and forms many shoots. There are small thorns on the branches.

Fruits «Polana» cone-shaped, rounded, hard. The size of the berries is average, weight – up to 5 gr.

The color of the berries is bright red, becoming darker by the time of ripening. If raspberries are planted on the shady side, the berries will have a sour taste, in the sun the fruits become sweeter. Also, the taste of berries depends on the number of sunny summer days.

"Polana" matures early enough. In the southern regions, the first harvest is taken   in mid-late July. For northern latitudes, the collection period falls on the beginning-mid-August.

Prolonged fruiting – until mid October. Fruit ripening even when the temperature drops to +5°C.

A distinctive feature of the variety «Polana» high productivity – up to 4 kg of raspberries are harvested from one bush.

Planting and care

To obtain high yields, follow simple rules for planting and caring for raspberries.

Raspberry seedlings «Polana» planted in late autumn. To do this, select a sunny, wind-protected area with black earth or sandy loam soil.

Raspberry needs moisture, but since its stagnation can cause the death of seedlings, it is allocated a place protected from dampness.

Raspberry care:

Cutting. In autumn – pruned fruiting shoots, in the spring – frozen and broken. Leave only the strongest of them – an average of 10 shoots per 1 m².

Garter. In order for the branches not to break under the weight of berries, raspberry shoots must be tied up.

Irrigation. The frequency and abundance of watering raspberries depends on the climatic conditions of the region. "Polana" loves moisture, but does not like its stagnation. The soil should get wet by 40 cm. If there is not enough rainfall, winter watering is required. To increase moisture permeability, loosening the soil to a depth will help. 7-10 cm

Feeding. Raspberries are fertilized with cowshed and mineral compounds. Nitrogen fertilization is recommended in early spring.
