An annual plant. The stems are straight, thin, covered with sticky glandular hairs. The flowers are graceful, funnel-shaped, large with corrugated petals, brilliantly velvety, of various shades with an original marble pattern of dark or golden veins in the throat. It thrives best in sheltered, sunny locations with deep, fertile, permeable soil. Does not tolerate excessive waterlogging, drought and frost. Seeds for seedlings are sown in early April or in open ground in late April-early May. Winter sowing is possible.
