Effective annual ornamental leafy plant. Bushes of the correct elongated-oval shape. Stems erect, densely branched. The leaves are small, emerald green, turning red with the onset of autumn frosts. Handles haircut well. Prefers a sunny location, although it can tolerate light shade, loose soils, and is relatively drought tolerant. Seeds for seedlings are sown in early April or in open ground in early May. Winter crops are possible. At a temperature of 18 ° C, seedlings appear after 7-10 days.
Used for individual plantings, groups, hedges, borders, ribbons. It is easy to cut and retains well the shape given to it, such as a cube or a ball. Kochia is good both in a high sheared hedge of any configuration, and in low borders.
