The first generation Charlie F1 hybrid was developed by GREENOMICA LTD (London/Moscow). Included in the State Sort Register of the Russian Federation in 2018. Approved for cultivation under film cover, on the basis of private farms in all regions of Russia.
Variety advantages: early, consistently high yield, friendly filling of brushes, suitable for small-scale cultivation.
Characteristics of the variety
Plant generative type, balanced, with a powerful root system. The leafiness of the stems is medium, the foliage is dark green, of a standard size. The inflorescence is simple, produces 5-6 fruits. The first is formed over the eighth sheet, then every 1-2 sheets. Articulated stem.
Fruitsflat-round (shape index 0.9-1.0). Fruit weight 200-240 grams, according to the originator. Pulp – dense, contains from 4 to 6 seed chambers. Peel – elastic, does not crack. The color of ripe tomatoes is pink. The taste is refreshing, dessert. Transportability, keeping quality – good ones. Segment: fresh market. Purpose: salad.
Yieldcommercial fruits "Charlie F1" – 9.5-10.0 kg per square meter. Tomatoes ripen early and amicably. The first ripe tomatoes are removed on the 80-90th day from the moment of germination.
Immunity to tomato mosaic virus, Verticile and Fusarium wilt, Cladosporiosis. The fruits are resistant to blossom end rot and cracking.
Growing conditions
Tomato variety "Charlie F1" successfully grown in the 1st-2nd turn of film and in the 2nd turn of glass greenhouses. Moreover, both on the ground and using low-volume technology.
The bush is formed into 1-2 stems. In case of premature topping, one stepchild of replacement must be kept on each plant. To get larger and more even tomatoes, the brushes are normalized for 4 fruits.
Seedling selection
Before you buy seedlings of Charlie F1 tomatoes, inspect it carefully.
A quality healthy seedling:
- Shrubs – 30-35 cm high, branched. The stem is strong, but not thick (the diameter of a regular pencil).
- Leaves – few (6-7 pieces), whole, elastic, raised up. No wrinkling, yellowing, brown or black spots.
- Roots – shaped, moist, undamaged.
- The color of the seedlings is rich green. Pale, weak stems and leaves indicate a lack of light when growing seedlings.
- Age for landing at a permanent place – 50-60 days.
