Western thuja Little Giant – slow-growing evergreen dwarf shrub with bright green needles and a spherical crown.
Variety advantages: frost resistance, neat decorative crown shape, suitable for growing in containers.
Appearance. Compact shrub, up to 80 cm in height and 50 cm – in diameter. It grows very slowly, reaching maximum parameters only by the 10th year of planting. The root system does not grow much. Thuja can be grown in containers and pots.
Crown – spherical, dense with bright green needles, which acquires a bronze tint in winter. Shoots are often located.
Application. Miniature thujas with an unusual crown are very popular with landscape designers. The latter use the plant to create oriental-style container compositions, decorate terraces, balconies, and small squares with them.
Thuja looks good in monoplants, as well as in combination with flowers, for example, with tulips, peonies, etc.
Growing conditions. Thuja Little Giant, hardy, low maintenance, resistant to adverse environmental factors, including smoke and exhaust gases. Therefore, it is suitable for planting in cities.
The plant tolerates frosts up to –35°C, it can be planted in 3-6 climatic zones.
At the same time, thuja is light and moisture-loving. Dry soil and dense shade during the day lead to a deterioration in decorative qualities: the needles fade, and the crown becomes rare. Shady areas, strong drying winds, very dense dry soils are not recommended for planting plants.
