A new variety of remontant strawberry Vivara, bred by Italian breeders, is more suitable than any other for cultivation in Russia, with its diverse climate. For its increased winter hardiness, the variety was especially liked by gardeners and farmers from regions with cold winters and unstable summers. To date, "Vivara" is one of the Top 5 high-yielding varieties of neutral daylight hours.
Varie Features
A medium-sized strawberry bush with serrated dark green leaves, strewn with numerous flower stalks.
Fruits of "Vivara" large: weight 40-50 gr. Berries of an attractive presentation: conical, symmetrical, deep red, shiny. Strawberries are sweet in taste, but not cloying, the flesh is juicy, without a crunch. The aroma of fruits is delicate, strawberry. "Vivara" ideal for fresh consumption, good in preparations, endures transportation.
The yield of the variety is 1.5-2 kg per bush. Ripening of berries occurs cyclically – every 5-6 weeks, new flowers are formed in parallel. Harvesting for outdoor cultivation begins at the end of May – the first half of June and continues until frost. In greenhouses and tunnels, ripening dates are shifted to the left.
Vivara strawberry variety great for individual and commercial cultivation.
Planting and care
Strawberry "Vivara" will delight you with an excellent harvest, subject to planting technology and careful care.
Landing. The variety feels great both in open and closed ground. However, in the latter it gives an earlier and more abundant harvest. Despite the high frost resistance, plants need shelter in case of return frosts and other "surprises" nature.
Plant strawberries in spring or autumn. If you want to breed your own "Vivara" with the help of a mustache from your site, you can transplant the shoots at the end of July. Summer planting will allow them to get stronger and develop before the onset of cold weather, and new bushes will begin to bear fruit abundantly next season.
For planting strawberries, a sunny area is suitable, with fertile breathable soil, an acidity factor of pH 5.5-6.0. A few weeks before planting, the soil on the site is dug up and fed with organic fertilizers (compost, manure) with the addition of wood ash.
Strawberries are planted in rows, leaving a distance: 30 cm – between bushes; 40-50 cm – in the aisles. The seedling is placed in the hole, and sprinkled with earth to the root neck. The soil is slightly crushed with palms and watered with warm water. During the first 2 weeks, the bushes are watered daily.
Irrigation. Repair strawberries need regular watering. Before flowering, the sprinkling method is used. Then water only under the root, following & nbsp; so that water does not fall on the flowers and berries. Water for irrigation needs warm, cold – slows down the growing season.
Tip: To save time, effort, as well as greater accuracy of soil moisture, it is recommended to organize drip irrigation on the site.
Whisker removal, weed control. Another bottom dignity of the – moderate mustache formation. Therefore, landings do not need their constant removal. What can not be said about weeds, which must be removed immediately, until they have grown and damaged the roots of strawberries. In parallel with weeding the beds, the soil around the bushes and between the rows is loosened and mulched, opening up access to oxygen for the roots.
Tip: Regular weeding and mulching can be replaced with black agrofibre, on which strawberry bushes are initially planted. This technique also helps in the fight against gray mold.
Feeding. To increase soil fertility and increase yields, Vivara is fed 3-4 times per season. Starting from spring, organic matter is added 2-3 times: mullein, bird droppings, compost. To do this, prepare an aqueous solution, in a ratio of 1:10 (bird droppings 1:20) and water each bush under the root (1/2 liter per bush). At the end of summer, after harvesting – add nitroammophoska.
Important! When using ready-made complex fertilizers from the store, you must strictly follow the instructions on the package.
Preparing for winter. When growing a variety in regions with severe winters, it is recommended to additionally protect beds with remontant strawberries with covering materials.
How to choose Vivara seedlings?
- The leaves on the bush should be bright green, smooth, without damage. Skugness, wrinkles and spots on the leaves – indicators of pests and diseases.
- The roots of seedlings should be well developed, moist, without dry areas.
- Choose seedlings with a closed root system, with an earthy clod in cups or containers. So the roots are not damaged when planting in the ground, and the plant adapts better in a new place.
